What is an "International Registration"?

An International Registration via the Madrid System is a flexible and cheap solution. In order to use the system you have to a have a Danish trademark application or registration. Using that as a basis you can apply for international registration in the countries that are affiliated to the system by designating the countries you are interested in. For the time being more than 75 countries are affiliated and the number is rising.

You obtain protection in many countries through one filing procedure.

The renewal takes place centrally.

Recordal of change of owner, transfer of rights etc. also takes place centrally.

You have the possibility of extending the international registration with more countries as you need it and even with more classes provided however, that the international registration comprises these classes.
