What does a patent right imply?

If a patent right is obtained on an invention this means, that the patentee obtains an exclusive right to utilize the invention commercially, make reproductions of it and offer the invention for sale.

The patentee who are typically the original inventor or the one to whom the inventors right has passed can thus prohibit others from exploiting the invention commercially. In the patent protection there is an element of protection towards both competing inventors as well as towards the inventor himself.
