Danish advertisements are primarily governed by the Marketing Act. It is the Consumer Ombudsman who enforces this law. That means that it is he who assesses the legality of advertisements either on the basis of a notification or on his own initiative.
Besides from the Marketing Act advertisements and marketing initiatives are also governed by a huge number of private acts. These private acts govern areas within radio and television commercials, alcohol, tobacco, foodstuffs etc.
