How can you obtain design protection in Denmark?
The Danish Design Act came into force on 1 October 2001, and is based on an EU directive. This means that the regulations in the other EU countries to a wide extent are similar to the ones applicable in Denmark.
In order to obtain protection in accordance with the Design Act you have to file an application for registration of your design with the Patent & Trademarks Office. Many new designs - in particular industrial designs - do not have the sufficient level of originality to enjoy copyright protection, and for those designs a protection as registered design is the best option.
